Aylekeepe is a service household, our service knows no boundaries. We assist where we find the opportunity - we've also been known to create a few opportunities - initiative is a prized attribute among our members!

We give special attention to newcomers, because being new in the SCA is sometimes overwhelming. We're here to aid those new to the Society in finding areas of interest, making sure they have garb for events, a place to camp, and someone to talk with if they have questions. We point newcomers toward others that may be able to assist them in their areas of interest.

Our members are active on both a local and a Kingdom level, several hold offices on each level.

We believe in 'Service for the Sake of Service,' but know that rewards may wait for those who use their talents for the good of helping others. Through service, our goals are learning, working together, having fun, making new friends, and the adventure in what the next event may bring.

Membership in Aylekeepe

Our membership is fairly select, chosen either by the Head of Household or recommended by other full house members. Members may begin as 'Associates' - those who have shown true enthusiasm in the SCA and a desire to help others. Associates are on a probationary term that lasts a minimum of six months - this gives them a chance to know the rest of the household and us to know them.

Full membership is granted after associates show a defined interest in the Society, the goals of the household and desire to be active with the house. Due to RealLife™ situations that may get in the way of our hobby, some will make full member sooner than others. This is not a negative reflection on anything - we all play at different speeds - and RealLife™ comes first! Associates tagged for full membership are asked if they wish to move up to the next level. Those who do are asked to take a simple pledge of continued service. Those who don't simply remain as Associates and may be asked again at a later date.

The main difference between an associate and a full member is that full membership grants a voice in the shaping of the household and projects we undertake. Full members also have the priviledge to undertake projects in the name of the household and display the household banner at events.

Even as RealLife™ often makes SCA play difficult or impossible sometimes, we do not forget or shun inactive members. We patiently wait for when they can return to playing with the household - they're kept abreast of house activities and meetings.

It's a simple fact, people may change, take different political views and take different roads sometimes, too. While we respect the diverse opinions of those within the household, Aylekeepe has lost members to such changes and personal differences. We wish those former members well upon their path of life, both mundanely and in the SCA.

We have a third membership level, Honored Guests. This level is reserved for those who are spouses and significant others of full members.

We also enjoy alliances with other households who share the same ideals and goals as we do. We're very proud of the fact that we've influenced the formation of other households and enjoy our relationship with them.
